One of the main trademark tourist product of Silesia is the Industrial Monuments Route, which features 31 sites, which were real technological gems of their times.
The region comprises Poland's largest concentration of exceptional historical industrial sites, which are an integral part of the European industrial heritage.
The region of Silesia developed as a result of the industrail revolution which began in the 18th century. The reminders of those times include machines and equipment connected with mining, power engineering, food processing, railroads, communications, water suppy and metalurgy.

Apart from historical facilities, the Route offers multimedia presentations as well as various events organized at particular industrail sites, which include the Tychy Brewing Museum; the Brewery and the Brewing Museum in Zywiec; the Bread Museum in Radzionkow; the Guido Historical Coal Mine in Zabrze; the Match Production Museum in Czestochowa; the Nikiszowiec Worker's Housing Estate in Katowice; and the Krolowa Luiza Open-Air Mining Museum in Zabrze.
The sites are well signposted with special brown-and-white road signs. Each of the facilities has an information board in three languages, presenting a brief description and practical information for tourist.
